Animation Technology

The Bachelor of Science in Animation Technology program is designed to culminate industry‐ relevant technology with traditional animation principles to prepare students for the animation industry. Based on a foundation of traditional drawing and design skills, students will have the opportunity to explore industry standard Visual Effects, Motion Graphics and Animation techniques. A heavy emphasis on pre‐ production will set the foundation for an opportunity to produce and develop a successful animated short film. Industry professionals will serve as mentors to help guide students through the production process while potentially acquiring advanced skill sets, which can provide the opportunity to complete the animated short film.

Instructor Bios

Michael Gjere

Michael Gjere, pronounced "Jerry", has been working in the digital entertainment industry for more than 12 years. He has been an Executive Producer at well-known game development studios such as Activision and Atari. Michael has credit for producing over 45 video game titles on various consoles such as GameBoy Color, GBA, Gamecube, PS1, PS2, PS3, Xbox, Xbox360, Dreamcast, iPhone, Blackberry and PC. Michael owns his own company and continues to bring his real world experience into the classroom. He has been teaching students the history and the business of the video game and animation industry since 2009.

Anthony Summey

Anthony Summey is originally from the small southern town of Walhalla, SC, where he would drive his grade school teachers crazy with doodles of super heroes all over his homework assignments. Needless to say Anthony has always and will always love to draw.

Besides being a cartoonist, Anthony is currently a Freelance Artist and a Professor at Sanford-Brown Online in the Animation Technology Program. He has received his MFA degree from the Savannah College of Art and Design in Sequential Art.
